The Sub 70 TAIII MB Irons are a set of irons designed in collaboration with former PGA Tour player Tommy Armour III. These clubs are a classic "muscle back" or blade iron, designed to provide maximum feel, control and shot shaping. They are specifically aimed at low-handicap golfers who prioritize precision over forgiveness.

Construction and Materials

• Forged from DT-4 Steel: The irons are forged from a single piece of DT-4 carbon steel , a material known for its exceptional softness and responsive feel. This forged construction provides unmatched feedback at impact.

• Muscle-back design: The back of the head is filled with a "muscle," which concentrates the weight behind the center of the face. This creates a very solid feel on clean hits, but makes the club less forgiving on hits outside the sweet spot.

Design and Performance

• Classic Player Profile: The TAIII MB irons feature a compact head shape, a very thin topline and minimal offset. This design provides a clean, appealing look at address that better players prefer.

• Maximum workability: This is the club's primary purpose. It is designed to give the player total control over the ball flight – to deliberately hit draws, fades and control the height with precision.

• Optimized Weighting: In the longer irons (3-, 4- and 5-irons), Sub 70 has used strategic weighting, sometimes with tungsten, to lower the center of gravity and help the ball lift more easily. In the shorter irons, the weight is instead shifted towards the toe to counteract twisting and provide maximum face control.

• Excellent interaction with the grass: The sole is designed to cut cleanly through the grass, minimizing resistance and providing a consistent feel and ball strike.

• Minimal Forgiveness: As with all blade irons, forgiveness is low. Hits outside the sweet spot result in a noticeable loss of distance and accuracy, making this iron set best suited for golfers who consistently hit the ball in the center of the face.

• Combination option: Many players choose to combine the TAIII MB irons in the short irons with the more forgiving TAIII CB (Cavity Back) irons in the longer irons. This provides an optimal balance between control in the scoring clubs and a little extra forgiveness in the long shots.
