  • Mallet Shape: The 003 model has a full-sized mallet head shape, which provides a very high MOI (Moment of Inertia). This means the putter is very stable and resistant to twisting on off-center hits, which increases forgiveness.

  • Three sight lines: The putter is equipped with three clear sight lines on the top of the putter head. These help the player to more easily aim and set up the putt correctly.

  • Heavier than average: Sub 70 putters are generally heavier than standard putters, which the manufacturer says promotes a more pendulum-like putter stroke and provides better feel.

  • Toe Hang: With a single-curve shaft, the 003 has approximately 20 degrees of toe hang, making it suitable for players with a lighter arched putter stroke. With a double-curve shaft, the putter is essentially "face balanced" (without toe hang), which suits a more straight-back-straight-forward putting motion.

Sub 70 008 Putter description

The Sub 70 Sycamore 008 Putter is a mallet putter designed to maximize stability and forgiveness on the green, making it an excellent choice for golfers seeking consistency in their putting game.

Construction and materials

  • CNC-machined 1045 carbon steel: Like other Sub 70 putters, the 008 model is 100% CNC-machined from a solid piece of 1045 carbon steel. This ensures an extremely smooth and solid feel at impact, free from welds and cast imperfections.

  • Double milled face: The putter has a precision-milled face design that is designed to provide consistent and optimal ball roll, even on off-center hits.

  • Black Tour PVD Finish: The elegant black PVD finish reduces glare and gives the putter a sophisticated look.

Design and performance

  • Optimized Weight Distribution: The 008 Mallet putter features a strategically optimized weight distribution. The weight is shifted rearward and the head is elongated and rounded at the trailing edge. This contributes to a very high MOI (Moment of Inertia) , giving the putter exceptional stability and resistance to twisting on off-center hits. The result is more consistent ball speed and direction.

  • Precise sight lines: The putter head has clear ball-width sight lines that help the golfer more easily aim and line up the putt correctly, promoting better accuracy.

  • Customizable Weighting: A key feature of the 008 model is its customizable weighting system. It comes with 15-gram weights in the heel and toe, but also includes additional weights in 5, 10 and 20 grams. This allows golfers to fine-tune the putter's swing weight and feel to match their specific putting stroke and preferences.

  • Crisp Impact Sound: The putter produces a crisp and satisfying sound upon ball impact, providing valuable feedback to the golfer.

  • Shaft Options: The Sub 70 008 is available with both a standard "plumber neck" (single-bent shaft) which provides some "toe hang", and as a Center Shaft (CS) . The CS version is specifically designed for golfers with a more straight-back-straight-forward putting motion as it is largely "face balanced".
