Titleist uses a unique adapter system called SureFit® Hosel in its drivers, fairway woods and hybrids. It is one of the most versatile adjustment systems on the market and allows you to fine-tune the characteristics of the club to optimize your ball flight.
How SureFit Hosel Works
The adapter consists of two parts: a sleeve and a ring . Both parts have four settings each, giving a total of 16 unique combinations of loft and lie.
-
Sleeve: Has settings numbered from 1 to 4.
-
The ring: Has settings lettered from A to D.
By combining these settings, you can change the loft and lie angle independently of each other, affecting both the height (loft) and direction (lie) of the ball trajectory.
Compatibility
A big advantage of the Titleist SureFit system is that many of their drivers, fairway woods and hybrids use the same adapter.
-
Drivers and Fairwaywoods: Shafts from model lines like the GT , TSR , TSi , TS , 917 , 915 and 913 are interchangeable. This means that if you have a shaft with an adapter from a 915 driver, you can use it in a newer TSR driver, which is a big advantage if you already have a favorite shaft.
-
Hybrids: Have their own adapter that adjusts in 1-degree increments.
Important adjustment points
-
Loft: Adjusting loft primarily affects the height and spin of the ball trajectory.
-
Lie: Adjusting the lie primarily affects the direction of the ball flight (fade or draw). A more upright lie angle promotes a draw, while a flatter angle promotes a fade.
It is important to note that to change the settings you need a special SureFit key that is included when you purchase a Titleist club.
By understanding and using the SureFit adapter, you can fine-tune your club to fit your swing and maximize your performance on the course.
