Sub70 uses its FCT (Flight Control Technology) adapter system, also known as Loft Sleeve , in its drivers, fairway woods and hybrids. It is a popular and effective system that makes it easy for players to adjust the loft and lie of the club to optimize the ball trajectory.

Works with driver 859, 859 Pro and woods 959X

How Loft Sleeve works

The Loft Sleeve adapter consists of a simple sleeve with markings that show the different settings. By loosening the screw and rotating the sleeve, you can adjust the loft and lie angle of the club. The system usually has 12 different settings that allow you to:

  • Adjust the loft: Increase or decrease the loft by up to +/- 2° in 0.5° increments. This affects the height of the ball trajectory and spin.

  • Adjust the lie angle: Make the lie angle more upright to promote a draw ball flight, or more neutral for a straighter ball flight.

To make the adjustments, you will need a TaylorMade torque wrench that comes with your club. This wrench is designed to provide a "click" when the screw is properly tightened, ensuring that the clubhead is securely fastened.

Compatibility

TaylorMade has historically used different adapter systems, but the modern Loft Sleeve has been consistent for many years. This means that shafts with adapters from newer models like the Qi10 , Stealth , SIM , and M are backward compatible. In other words, you can usually use a shaft from an older M-series driver in a newer Qi10 model, which is a big advantage for players who want to change clubheads but keep their favorite shaft.

Tips for adjusting

  • Loft: If you struggle to get the ball in the air, you can increase the loft. If you hit too high with a lot of spin, you can reduce the loft for a more penetrating trajectory.

  • Draw bias: If you have a tendency to slice, you can choose a setting that is "upright" to help close the clubhead at impact and promote a draw.

It is important to experiment with the different settings to find the one that gives you the best combination of distance and accuracy. A professional fitting can help you quickly find your optimal setting.
