Callaway uses its own adjustable adapter system called OptiFit Hosel in its drivers, fairway woods and hybrids. It is one of the most effective systems on the market and allows you to fine-tune the characteristics of the club to optimize your ball flight.
How OptiFit Hosel works
The OptiFit adapter has two rotating "cogs" that allow you to adjust loft and lie independently of each other, creating a total of eight different combinations to customize the club to your swing.
-
Loft settings: These adjust the height and spin of the ball trajectory. Typically, you can choose between:
-
"S" (Standard): Plays the club at its specified loft.
-
"+1" or "+2": Increases loft by 1 or 2 degrees for a higher ball trajectory and more spin.
-
"-1": Reduces loft by 1 degree for a lower, more penetrating trajectory and less spin.
-
-
Lie settings: These affect the direction of the ball flight. You can usually choose between:
-
"N" (Neutral): Standard lie angle.
-
"D" (Draw): A more upright lie angle that helps counteract a slice and promotes a draw ball flight.
-
To adjust the settings, you need a special Callaway torque wrench that comes with the club.
Compatibility
Callaway has made it easy for players by using the same type of adapter across a wide range of their club models. This means that shafts from older models can often be used in newer models, providing flexibility. The adapter system works with most modern Callaway drivers, fairway woods and hybrids, including series such as:
-
Paradym Ai Smoke
-
Paradym
-
Rogue
-
Epic
-
Mavrik
-
Big Bertha
By learning how the OptiFit adapter works, you can quickly and easily adjust your Callaway club on the course to handle different conditions and optimize your performance.
